Who runs this website?

This is Mike Brachten’s personal website, based in Amsterdam. For questions about privacy or your data, email info@mikebrachten.nl.

This website introduces my work and companies. You cannot buy products or enter into a contract here. For a service or product, you visit the relevant company, where its own terms and privacy notice apply.

What happens when you visit?

The website serves pages from its own server. It uses your browser’s language setting on a first visit and one functional cookie to remember your language. There are no advertising trackers or analytics, and nothing is stored in local storage. Fonts, images and logos come from this website. There are no embedded social media feeds or videos.

To deliver a page, hosting and network services process technical information such as your IP address, requested page and browser information. This information may also appear in technical security and server logs. The exact settings and retention periods depend on the hosting. You can request information using the email address above.

When you get in touch

When you email me, I receive the information you choose to send, such as your name, email address and message. I use it to answer your question and handle the conversation or a potential assignment. Please send only the information needed for that purpose.

Correspondence is retained for as long as needed for the conversation or an assignment. Statutory retention obligations may apply to business records. Email services process messages to deliver and store them. I do not sell your contact details.

Links to other websites

Links to LinkedIn, publications and my companies take you to that provider’s website. Until you follow a link, this website does not load content from that provider. The destination’s own privacy and cookie settings apply.

The button for copying my email address writes the public address to your clipboard. The site does not read your existing clipboard contents.

Payment links

The payment pages use an amount and description in the link to prepare the request and its social preview. These values are part of a public URL. Anyone who receives it, and the messaging service generating a preview, can read them. Please keep sensitive information out of descriptions.

The site does not collect card details or process payments. When you choose a method, the relevant amount and description are passed to bunq or Revolut. Their own privacy information and terms apply. Creating a link does not make a payment. Copy and share buttons use your browser’s clipboard or share feature only when you press them.

Your information and rights

You can request access to, correction of or deletion of personal data I hold about you. You can also object to processing or request that it be restricted. The rights that apply depend on the information and its purpose. Contact info@mikebrachten.nl to make a request.

If you are unhappy with how a privacy question is handled, you can contact the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

Your language cookie

The functional cookie mb_language stores only nl or en, so the site remembers Dutch or English and does not keep asking. It lasts for one year, is limited to this website, uses SameSite=Lax and HttpOnly, and is sent securely over HTTPS. It does not contain an identifier and is not used to track you. You can change it using the language switch or remove it in your browser settings.

This cookie is necessary to remember your language preference. Consent is not required for this functional use, so the site has no cookie consent banner. You can block cookies and still use the website; your language choice may then need to be repeated.

If the site adds tracking or other cookies requiring consent, this notice will be updated and permission requested beforehand. This notice applies to the personal website; separately hosted tools, including /ooo, may have their own privacy information.
